Lang Dulay

Lang Dulay was born on August 3, 1928 and was taught to weave at the young age of 12 by her mother, Luan Senig. She was a T'boli princess from the region of Lake Sebu in South Cotabato. She was known for making designs which is preserves the traditional motifs in T'nalak weaving despite the commercialization and modernization of the craft. Despite the tedious and tiring process of weaving T'nalak, Lang Dulay continued to make them passing down the knowledge she gained from her mother to her own granddaughters often weaving by the window which was well-lighted because of the high ceilings and wide windows. Lang Dulay worked in a small workshop in Sitio Tukolefa, Lamdalag in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato in a place called Manlilikha ng Bayan Center and sits in the second floor of the traditional T'boli house.

Lang Dulay, according to one of her granddaughter, knows at least 100 designs, some of them are bankiring (hair), kabangi (butterfly), and bulinglangit (clouds). She was also notable for having designs based from her dreams, which described her as a dreamweaver.

She fell into a coma in January of 2015 and died on April of the same year. As Evelyn Macairan of Philippine Star puts it, "she will dream no more, but her dreams live on in the textiles that she wove for nearly eight decades". She was buried with full state honors on May of 2015 and four weeks of state funeral for the T'boli community to mourn her.
